Agoraphobia, or the fear of being in places that you can’t easily escape, is something that affects more than one in every 50 people, and is actually the most prominent of the “phobias” that people suffer from. While you may think of someone who is agoraphobic as not wanting to leave their home, there are various forms of this phobia that can greatly affect your life. What Is Agoraphobia?

The original meaning behind the term “agoraphobia” was the fear of being in a wide, open space. The word is derived from two Greek words meaning “marketplace” and “fear”, and was first diagnosed in people who had problems being in large crowds, such as what you would find at a marketplace, shopping mall, or a concert hall.

But, there are other forms of agoraphobia and each person has their own individual triggers that set their phobia off.
