EFT and Shyness – Can It Help?

We have all known people who were so shy that they let every opportunity that came their way, slip from their reach, because they didn’t know how to grab it. Whether it was a job interview or a date with a great guy or girl, their shyness got in the way of what they should have had. Shyness is something that happens to all of us from time to time, even Presidents have it, rock stars have it, and professional athletes have to deal with it, so if you are someone who isn’t in the limelight, then you have an advantage right there.

Why Are You Shy?

A lot of people spend more of their time figuring out why they are shy rather than treating the issue. Yes, if you can figure out why you are shy and point it to an exact episode of your childhood, then perhaps that could help you to overcome it, but more often than not, it’s a result of your entire upbringing and there isn’t much that you can do about that.

On the other hand, there are people who are shy simply because of the way they look (or how they think they look), or the reception that they have received from people in the past. We all know that life is too short to sit back and watch it pass right on by, so perhaps now is a time for you to do something about your shyness.

EFT and Shyness

It is interesting that even though we all turn to Western medicine for help when it comes to our body, when it comes to our mind, usually Eastern medicine is a better place to start and that is certainly the case when it comes to personality issues. Shyness is something that can be easily changed if you are dedicated to doing so and many experts have found that there is a direct benefit from EFT with shyness.

What is EFT?

If you have not yet heard of EFT, it is also known as the Emotional Freedom Technique and is a form of acupressure which is combined with psychology as a way to increase mental and emotional health. While this may sound like a bunch of hocus pocus to you, there is plenty of proven documentation that this can work to change personality issues, one of which is shyness.

EFT uses the same acupressure points that have long been used by Chinese practitioners, yet you can do it without the invasiveness, pain, or danger of needles. Many people have used EFT and shyness has receded, to the point where they just don’t even understand why they lived all those years with such a debilitating condition.

Carol Look in her article What is EFT? says…

“EFT and variations on Meridian Tapping Techniques are one of the most effective, efficient, gentle treatment techniques I have come across since joining the mental health field nearly seventeen years ago.”

What Can EFT Do For You?

EFT uses a form of light, intermittent pressure known as “tapping”. By tapping on particular acupressure points while also thinking certain thoughts, you are able to short-circuit your brain into quickly changing life-long behaviors. Many of these behaviors are dangerous, such as drinking alcohol or smoking, but there are also many people who have used this technique as a way to eliminate shyness in severe cases.

Of course, you can also use EFT as a way to help you stop overeating, to deal with stress better, and even learn to sleep better so you will have more energy, so you can see that it is an all-around good thing to learn how to do to yourself.

What Do You Need To Know?

If you are interested in using EFT and shyness elimination is your ultimate goal, then you will need to go online and find information about this innovative, but in some ways ancient, art. Obviously, you will also need to be fully aware of your shyness and how it is affecting your life in order for you to make positive progress toward eliminating it.
